Emotional Regulation
Children and Adolescents often struggle to name their feelings in order to effectively react and remain regulated. Emotional regulation has become a priority in school settings using social emotional awareness/ lessons to assist students with this need.
Responding to the stimuli of the environment, remaining emotionally regulated requires the ability to respond with a range of emotions that are suitable to the situation and able to easily modify emotions as needed. Those that are emotionally dysregulated respond to stimuli inappropriately to remain functional in their setting. Parents and teachers alike battle this every day. The manifestations and how dysregulation looks vary from kid to kid which sometimes makes it difficult to address. One size does not fit all.
